1) What supports the integration of all application modules?

The SAP R/3 basis system supports the integration of all application modules.  The R/3 basis software provides the runtime conditions for the R/3 applications guarantees optimal integration, defines a steady structural architecture for system improvements and includes the administration tools for the entire system. 2) In case My SAP system is down (Users unable to login to SAP system), how to analyze the problem?

In case My SAP system is down the take following action

·         Verify you are also not able to login to SAP.
·         Monitor work Processes at OS level for long running & available processes.
·         Check for the Filesystem.
·         Take action accordingly.
·         Review logs in the functioning directory.
·         If nothing is supporting try to restart the system.

3) What are the different layers in SAP R/3 system?

SAP's R/3 is the world's most-used standard business software for client/server computing. R/3 stands for Real Time and 3-tier architecture.  In SAP R/3 system 3 layers are

·         Presentation Layer.
·         Application Layer.
·         Database Layer.

4) What is SAP dispatcher?

SAP dispatcher is the control agent that manages the resources for the SAP R/3 applications.


5) What are the functions of SAP dispatcher?

The functions of SAP dispatcher are following

·         The similar arrangement of transaction load to the work processes.
·         Management of barrier operations in main memory.
·         Integration of the performance levels.
·         Set of communication activities.

6) What is a work process?

An SAP application server has to process SAP requests from multiple front ends. The application server has the use of a dispatcher, which gathers the requests and transfers them for processing to the work processes. The work processes then execute the desired requests.

7) Explain about the two services that are used to deal with communication?

·         Message Service: Used by the application servers to exchange short inside communications.
·         Gateway Service: Enables communication between SAP R/3 and external applications.

8) What is private mode?

In private mode, the heap data is exclusively allocated by the user and is no more shared or available across the system. This occurs when your extended memory is exhausted.

9) What are the key responsibilities of SAP Basis Administrator?

The key responsibilities of SAP Basis Administrator are

·        Load balancing on servers.

10 ) What are the different types of job status? Can you unscheduled an active job?

The different types of job status in SAP Basis are –

·         Ready

·         Finished
·         Cancelled
You can’t unscheduled a job if it is active. You need to wait for the completion of the job to unscheduled it.
11) What is the difference between kernel replacement and support package?

Kernel replacement is the replacement of the SAP executable on the operating system level.
The support package includes fixes to the ABAP code inside an SAP instance.

12) In what ways you would know whether a system is Unicode or Non-unicode?

By code sm51 t-code we can see whether it is Unicode or non-Unicode.  In this code, we can notice the release button in the application toolbar if you click on that you can see all information like Database, Kernel version, Unicode or non- Unicode.

13) Explain what is SAP IDES?

17) Explain what is Data Sets in SAP?

18) What does SAPS stand for?

SAPS stands for SAP Application Performance Standard, It is unit of measurement used by the Hardware vendors for calculating the hardware required for the system landscape.

19) Explain what is SAP LUW (Logical Unit of Work)?

A logical unit consisting of dialog steps, whose changes are recorded to the database in an individual database, is called an SAP LUW (Logical Unit of Work).

20) What is the use of Application Server?

Application Server in SAP accepts the request from the user and if the request needs data then it connects to the database server and gives output.
